Job Title:-

Field Engineer

Position Overview:-

The Field Engineer will provide field-engineering information to the project management team and sub-trades to ensure construction works comply with all the design drawings, engineering standards, codes and specifications.

Major Projects West is growing and is currently working on securing a number of high profile projects in Western Canada. We are looking to fill several current and future openings across Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Participate in basic layout and field engineering activities.
  • Maintain lines and levels - verify as-built conditions.
  • Research and resolve drawing interpretations problems, conflicts, interferences and errors.
  • Maintain field logs.
  • Review subcontractor shop drawings.
  • Interpret design/drawings for sub-trades installing material and equipment.
  • Present design discrepancies to design consultants for resolution, prepare documentation, field design change requests, etc., as required.
  • Prepare and disseminate all required documentation records such as punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc.
  • Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications.
  • General subcontractor coordination.
  • Prepare "as-built" drawings as required.
  • Support the site superintendent and project manager as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required knowledge & Skills:-

  • Post-secondary school education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management disciplines; or an acceptable combination of education and previous experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator, ideally in a project engineering or heavy civil construction environment.
  • Proficient in software related to the construction industry as required (Examples: Primavera Scheduling Software, AutoCAD, SAP etc.)
  • Excellent Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Mobility is essential, must be willing to travel to where projects are located and work a flexible work schedule (locations across Canada, often remote)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.

Method Statement- Works to Build the Manhole in the lowest Basement

Hello Friends! Welcome to my blog. My name is Dipak Varsani, and I am the author of I am a Civil Engineer by profession, and I have taken the journey as a Site Engineer in my company.

In this blog, we will discuss Method Statement which I had to prepare and got approved from an Engineer in my recent project to resolve the rainwater pipe blockages issue and for future maintenance if the same problem arises again. The pipe was getting blocked frequently, and the reason may be;
Pipe Size:- If the pipe size is too small, it can get choked up easily. In my case, the pipe size was 100mm.
The slope of pipe:- To flow the water with gravity force the minimum required slop is 1% (10mm in every 1000mm), and this is what we have provided during placement of rainwater pipe in our project.
